A robust design system: streamline development workflows and ensure consistency

As a designer who can code, I eliminate the friction between vision and execution, ensuring pixel-perfect designs translate seamlessly into production-ready code.

  • A component-based design approach: I use Atomic Design to build composable, independent building blocks. This modular approach allows for rapid flow customization without redesigning from scratch, significantly accelerating development.
  • Feasibility-first creativity: I design with technical constraints in mind to ensure high-fidelity concepts are feasible, scalable, and dev-ready—minimizing design debt from day one.
  • Improving designer-developer communication: By speaking the "language of code," I bridge the gap between design and engineering. I can hand over prototypes that already account for edge cases, responsive breakpoints, and animation logic, significantly reducing the friction during handoff.

From department tool to national standard: Achieving Whole-of-Government integration

Transitioning from a departmental solution to a whole-of-government standard required a fundamental shift: we moved from bespoke features to a modular, scalable architecture capable of supporting diverse ministerial requirements.

  • Frictionless Data Ingestion: Expanding to a whole-of-government model meant the tool had to handle highly diverse data structures. We redesigned the ingestion pipeline to standardize varied inputs, lowering the barrier to entry for non-technical users while maintaining the robust functionality needed for enterprise-scale data management.
  • Guided Self-Service: Scaling to a whole-of-government level required a zero-touch onboarding strategy. I redesigned the help architecture to move away from external manuals and toward in-app education, ensuring that users had the information they needed at the exact point of friction.
  • Workspaces beyond your team: I designed a modular workspace system that enforces strict data isolation between agencies while providing secure, shared environments for cross-functional collaboration on national projects beyond individual team boundaries.

Reducing Administrative Burden: Transforming Complex Governance into Intuitive Management

I designed a modern administrative console from the ground up that reframes mundane security compliance as an intuitive experience, replacing the friction of "2000s-era" legacy systems with proactive workflows that empower users to manage national standards with confidence.

  • Humanizing Governance & Compliance: I designed a modern administrative console that humanizes governance by streamlining mandatory security tasks, ensuring that maintaining strict compliance feels like a natural extension of the workflow rather than a technical hurdle.
  • Instilling Behaviour Design: I applied behavioral design principles, such as progressive disclosure and visual feedback loops, to reduce cognitive load and nudge administrators toward proactive system governance.
  • I engineered a one-click compliance review feature that automates data gathering, transforming a complex audit process into a seamless, high-confidence submission.

Beyond the Benchmark: Proving AI Efficacy with Real-World Impact

While we set ambitious internal benchmarks, the system’s real-world performance ultimately surpassed our expectations, delivering higher accuracy and efficiency than initially projected.

  • More than 65% reduction in task completion time: While we initially targeted a 35% increase in efficiency (reducing 20 hours to 13), the final design delivered a 65% reduction, bringing the process down to just 7 man-hours.
  • Optimizing resources: The team increased operational throughput, enabling them to manage a significantly broader scope without the need for additional headcount.
